Sikh temple Bir Baba Budda Sahib is located in the Indian district of Amritsar, Punjab, next to the village of Chabal Kalan, on the Chabal-Amritsar route. The most of Baba Buddha's life was spent here. At some point, Guru Arjan Dev also went to this location.
Guru Nanak Dev ji gave Baba Budha ji, a revered figure in Sikhism whose actual name was Bura, the title of "Bahi Budha" because even as a young kid, he exhibited the knowledge of an elderly man. Bhai Budha becomes Guru Nanak's dedicated pupil. He dedicated his entire life to serving the Gurus and served as an example of holy behavior. He was elevated to the position of high priest of the Golden Temple.
During the Sikh Guru era, Baba Buddha was regarded as one of the greatest Sikh figures. He has the rare honor of receiving the blessings of the first six Gurus. He lived the ideal Sikh life for more than a century. Among Sikhs, he is regarded as one of the most sacred and venerated saints. He served as Sri Harmandir Sahib's first head Granthi (priest) at Amritsar, Punjab.
After that, he went into retirement and took care of the Guru ka Langar's animals in a bir. The location is currently referred to as Bir Baba Buddha Sahib.
He attained such an eminence in Sikh piety that at the time of the installation of Bhai Lahina as Guru Angad, Guru Nanak asked Bhai Buddha to apply the ceremonial tilak on Bhai Lehna’s forehead. He continued to serve the Gurus with complete dedication and remained an example for the growing body of disciples. The Guru spent his time in meditation for one year and six months. Sikhs could not trace the Guru. They approached Baba Buddha, who led them to Khadur. He prevailed upon the Guru to give up seclusion and resume his duties.
On the first day of the Bikrami month, huge divans are held in addition to daily prayers and the commemoration of significant Sikh anniversaries. The main event of the year is a religious fair that takes place on Asuu 21st, which falls on October 6. On this auspicious day, we should recall the contributions Baba Buddha made to Sikhism.
At Jhanda Ramdas, now known as Ramdas, a village established by his son, Bhai Bhana, where his family had relocated from his native village Kathu Nangal, Baba Buddha had spent his final days in meditation. Guru Hargobind was by his bedside when he departed for the divine home on November 16, 1631.
He tended to the "bir," or conserved woodland used for cattle grazing, for many years. Chaudhari Langah of Patti is reported to have given the "bir" to Guru Arjan from his own private properties. According to Gurbilas Chhevin Patshahi, Mata Ganga, the wife of Guru Arjan, got Baba Buddha's blessings for a distinguished son at this location on 21 Assu 1651 September 1594. Baba Buddha Singh is a significant figure in Sikh history since he received the blessing of the first six Gurus. He lived the ideal Sikh life for more than a century. Baba Buddha was chosen by Guru Arjan to be young Hargobind's tutor.
